It depends on the surface’s finish. If your surface has a standard brush finish, you should be able to walk on it a day after it was poured. If it features stamped or exposed concrete, be sure to wait until it’s been thoroughly pressure washed and sealed, which should take roughly an extra day. (It’s important to note that this only applies to foot traffic – don’t drive or park on new concrete until a full week has passed!)
A newly-poured concrete surface should function well for years to come, but it will eventually begin to crack. This is inevitable, and it can be caused by many different factors, including water evaporation and concrete shrinkage during the curing process and changing temperatures.
If your concrete surface is only showing minor cracks, don’t worry about it just yet. When this cracking becomes a bigger problem, SEA Concrete Contractors will be able to provide concrete repair services.
